One day three words went for a walk. They followed a path through the forest until the trail suddenly came to an end.
They had come to a huge rushing river.
“What are we going to do?”, they wondered aloud.
“Do we swim or walk around?”, asked Or.
“Swim?! But I don’t even know how to swim!”, answered But, “I’d vote for walking around, but I’m way too tired!”
“Let’s put our heads together and think about this”, invited And.
After a while, Or piped up, “So guys, what’s the deal? Do we spend the night here or turn back?”
“Take it easy, Or! I’d think of something, but I just can’t think at the moment.”, complained But.
And suddenly jumped up and started gathering logs. He tied them together with tree roots. He disappeared into the woods for a few minutes then came back with a grin.
“Look what I found!”, he crowed, “A huge plank of wood”. He placed it on top of the raft.
“Okay, Or and But, grab those two sticks. They’re our oars. Let’s go!”
Or and But looked at each other in amazement. They were impressed.
The three friends jumped on the raft and crossed over without a hitch.
The Takeaway
- What’s the obstacle you’re facing today?
- Which role are you playing?
If you’re an Or, you may be missing out on some exciting new possibilities creativity is offering.
If you’re a But, you may be mired down by the weight of the constraints: lack of time, energy, know-how, or confidence.
However, if you are an And, the sky’s the limit! Joining forces, whether inner or outer, always make for a stronger team.
3. How can you leverage the power of the And to accept the constraints, open yourself up to unforeseen options and find a way to break through?
